"The Crossing" and its cinematic language.

The filmmakers use cinematic language such external sounds, Musical tracks, tracking shot and the Dutch tilt to manipulate the viewers reaction. Starting the first scene we could observe the angle changes make us get a different perception of what the film is about, in this case it was suspense. At the same time the external sounds were giving a different environment to the scene, this includes intense emotions such as dreading because we could feel what was going to happen and what was present when  the angles started to follow the protagonist. The filmmakers also used a clean static shot to variate through the location of the scene, this also manipulates our experience through the film the angle of the monster was not very predictable and got me by surprise. The different angle shots mentioned affect the film dramatically, it can shape the way the film is meant to be told and how it is intended to sound, it  helps us engage with the film it elevates the audiences involvement in the film.  Without the environment sounds or the intense  music the film would be missing the dramatic factor. The monster presented also contributed to the viewer reaction of suspense, the way he as dressed and the fact we could not get a clear view of his face made it more mysterious.

Feedback of my magazine sketch

Feedback session 1 After participating in the feedback session of our initial sketches from the tasks I was able to observe many mistakes and errors I made or could have been better. I made wrong use of my white spacing, text boxes and included way to many pages of content; after making these observations I prepared to plan a new layout for each page and minimized the amount of content to the correct amount maintaining my magazine sketch balanced. After all these changes I was able to feel consistency and originality coming from my magazine, I took each feedback tip with maturity to use it as experience; finally I will continue to make changes to my cover which could be better. Here is my initial idea of my fixed sketch which still has a lot of work left, I will continue to ask for feedback to make my sketch better and use these for future projects.

Mise en scène Reading

Mise en scène is considered everything related to a certain film this includes its lighting, costumes, voices, actors and décor. During this quarter of school i spent time doing further research on why Directors use  Mise en scène and how they use it, I came to understand that Film Directors make use of this in order to convoy their message to the public and deliver a feeling of curiosity to the public, this can relate to Stuarts Hall Theory because there is something the Directors want us to encode. In other words the publics perspective of the movie may depend on the setting directors have chosen. Example of Mise en scene As shown in the image above this is a clear example of Mise scene use, the props, lighting, costumes and the chosen place may give us a each a different view on what's happening. By observing the chosen vestment I can tell this was trying to resemble a scene from the past and the props also help me...
